Should You Submit Your Website to Search Engines?
I was recently asked, Should You Submit Your Website to Search Engines as I was told that this isn't necessarily important. What's best to do is actually have the right linking to your site and your site will just be found anyway. Do you think this is correct or rather misleading? ************************************************* When faced with this question and explanation behind it my own views are as follows: ************************************************* I must admit I'm in total agreement about not bothering to submit, but I don't agree with a, you should just build it and they will come kind of attitude. After all there are certain ways and characteristics a website should be built or it could end up being disqualified by a search engine altogether. For instance the website META Title, more than 60 characters and it is frowned upon as possible keyword saturation and not using proper optimisation. Then there is the META Description, this shouldn't really exceed 150 characters and should contain keywords and phrases that are relevant to your website. Next is quite a vital one. The META Keywords characters should be an absolute Maximum of 874, but you really don't want to be anywhere near this figure if you can help it. More importantly than that you really don't want to be mentioning ANY word, be it in a phrase or otherwise more than 5 times. More than 5 may result in disqualification. Make sure any keywords that you use are important to your website. Then you can go onto Image ALT text, Keyword Density, Top Keyword Phrase and so on. So although I agree about not submitting to search engines as they will find you, the least you can do is be sure that when they do that they will list you well and not disqualify you or dump your website at the back as being gobbledygook… So if we think there is nothing to learn about search engine optimisation? We should think again... I hope this was some benefit here... Kind Regards Clive Anderson FirstForIncome.com P.S. Besides, if we were going to build a website based on the fact that the Search Engines were going to send us the required traffic in order to create success with that website then we would probably do better not bothering and spending the money on lottery tickets instead.
