eMail List Management

It’s always struck me as being quite funny really, well at least from the time that I discovered that building a list was supposedly a key issue and fundamental to building a healthy and worthwhile online business.

You see it everywhere; in fact it is almost like billboards all over the Internet.

“Build Your List”

And then it goes on, build your list etc or you might as well pack your bags and head home! Maybe a bit strong, but you get that kinda feeling, or at least I do.

Do you ever see a sign saying build your list and then do this and that with it? If you do it really is few and far between.

So there you are learning all the stuff that goes into marketing online and eventually you have a website or product that you wish to show to the masses, but hang-on you don’t have a list that you can send an email to telling them about your great new website and product.

So then you spend several months building a list using various means that are available and over a period you have emailed all 2,500 that joined your list about your website and product – then what? Do you email them all again telling them exactly the same thing again…Hmmm do you not think that by this time they will have removed themselves from your list and be looking for new horizons.

Most list ads and websites that you see offer some form or another of subscription to a newsletter or marketing tips with some form of freebie attached. That’s all very well, but what if you have no idea of what you could write in your newsletter or tips. I guess your back to just emailing them about your website and product, if you do that chances are by now you are going to be labelled as spamming, which is not good by any means.

You could keep joining new programs and write about them to your list, which seems to be the common most use of a list, and of course this seems to work as it is just like throwing mud up against a wall, throw enough and some of it is bound to stick, but you’d better have a massive list or you will end up simply being disappointed. Not only that but again you will have to learn how to word it and sell the chosen promotion within an email. Not everyone’s strength!

Maybe these are some of the reasons there is so little bantered about regarding what to do with this must have product. (The List)

However, all is not lost if your flailing around throwing the towel in thinking you can’t write catchy emails that would have people flocking by the masses.

There are many highly successful marketers online earning plenty of income that did not build their business empire using the so-called “List!” Instead they used their heads and continually promoted until enough people had seen and visited their website and bought their product. Even free marketing will do it if you use the right means and in enough quantities. Again it befalls the age-old saying regarding throwing mud. You’d still be throwing it, just using a different technique.

So the next time you see an ad emphasizing that you can only build a online business presence by having and working a list, just settle back into your chair and knowingly state in your mind that “It is not the Only way, I know of others!”

Personally I actually discovered a very satisfactory way, better yet it didn’t cost me a single penny, and still doesn’t…
